Your Glow Plan
Hyperpigmentation is a common, usually harmless skin condition where patches of skin become darker than the surrounding area. This darkening occurs when an excess of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin, is produced and deposited in the skin. Here's what's happening: your skin has tiny pigment factories called melanocytes. Normally, they produce just enough melanin to give your skin its beautiful colour. But sometimes, because of sun exposure, hormones, or inflammation those factories go into overdrive. Suddenly, you have darker patches that stand out from the rest of your skin. The good news? You can fade them.
Common Causes
- Sun damage (UV exposure)
- Post-inflammatory marks
- Melasma from hormonal changes
- Age spots
- Pick at acne
- Aggressive chemical peels (without professional guidance)
